I agree with John Maxwell on this one. He says the more power leaders gain, the more they reveal of themselves. Are we not seeing this in our current government? He also says power causes the heart to reveal its contents. What a statement to digest. There is never a time that it doesn't matter what you do. Someone is always watching and will always be affected by your actions.
These three things according to Maxwell will be evident:
1. When you know where you are going, you gain conviction.
2. When you have been there before, you gain credibility.
3. When you take someone with you, you gain connection.
So please by all means, lets lead in the right direction! You can lead in two directions, good or bad. I hope you choose good because each direction has a ripple effect. When you navigate someone in the wrong direction you've created much turmoil in the future that not only touches your followers directly but others on down the line indirectly. I am deeply concerned with the direction our government leadership is trying to take us as a nation. The enemy would like nothing better than for us as Christians to feel disheartened and helpless. He would love for us to curl up in a corner and say nothing for fear of being labeled "unamerican, prejudice, stupid," etc. But lets take a lesson from those that walked this road long before us. Look at the opposition that faced Ezra, Nehemiah, Zerubbabel, and many others. The Bible is packed with characters that stood out from the average individual, who dared to speak from a godly conscience and pure heart. Why should we be any different? Where is your courage? Why are we not taking prayer for our government seriously? It is time for us to face the music although its not a tune we want to hear. How are you leading those around you? Gather some insight from others, take inventory, and most importantly get busy on going in the right direction.
