Grapes

I know I'm not the only one that faces days like I'm gonna describe so maybe this will encourage you as it did me. You wake up one day and face the normal rigors of life and somehow along the course of that day things happen and words are stated that make you look at yourself a little more than you wish to. And you end up feeling like you really have nothing or very little to offer others. So the cycle of questioning your position in this world takes place in your mind. You wonder if you are where you're suppose to be. You wonder if you're doing what you are suppose to be doing with your life and you wonder if you're really as much an asset as you thought you were to your family. Life just has a way of handing us a bowl of sour grapes some days...and why do we even sit there and eat them like nothing is wrong with the taste?

I vote we stop doing that and concentrate on the greatness of our God and His Son, Jesus Christ. If the Lord can cause words to come from a donkey, He can certainly transform us into vessels of worth to others. The words to this song are so compelling and true...

Sometimes I believe that I can do anything
Yet other times I think I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe
Even though

‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

What Makes You Happy?

While sitting at the hospital for a significant amount of time, I'm reminded of just how important our basic needs are and how unimportant our basic desires are. In a comparison of the two, I see the essentials in life are really quite minimal. But don't we have such a wonderful Father in Heaven that not only supplies the essentials but also assures us that our desires are a pleasure for Him to supply as well! Having made that statement, He also works on our hearts in order to make sure our desires are not a harm to our well being.

Do we need alot to live a healthy life? No. Do we need alot to live a happy life? No. Do we desire things we envision will make a better life for us? Of course. What would it really take to make us happy? Would it be a better job, a different spouse, a new house, another vehicle, a different church? I want to choose my words carefully because change is necessary in these areas in some cases, however, in most situations we find that true happiness comes from the depth of the soul. It is encased in our hearts where our expectations either embrace it or shun it. Please stop blaming God if you are unhappy. Its not up to Him to make our lives a great stage play. He longs for us to be happy and content but not at the expense of our maturity. I have been told many times as a child that you don't always get everything you want. Its true and I'm glad because I see that maturity changes our expectations in life, which changes that little thing enclosed deep in our heart...happiness.

Ya know we really don't need much in this life for it to be a great one. So I ask you...what makes you happy?
