I've often heard people say the phrase "Too Late For Me" quite assuredly but it resounds in my head more like a question from their heart rather than a statement they've made. I have even wondered if its too late for some of my family members when I'd witness their rejection of the gospel time after time. But experiencing the love and mercy of God on a personal level has led me to believe that His character is one of great kindness and reaches to as many as will believe and surrender their hearts to Him. A look at scripture even solidifies that characteristic more. The Lord often, and I mean MANY times, reached out to Israel trying to persuade them to repent of their sins and follow him. As He also does with us today. He continues to call out to us and reach for us but sometimes we equate it to something else entirely. We brush off those little encounters with the thought of it being coincidence but is it really? I do believe the Lord allows life to happen and we often make our beds quite rough to lay in but He also extends His hands into our lives at just the right moments in order to pull us even closer to Him. I'm not saying He makes our lives a big garden of rosebuds and I'm not saying He brings all demise on us in order to get our attention. Quite frankly, He has the power to do both if He wanted. His ultimate goal for us is that we become His children with hearts fully devoted to His care.

The book of Haggai is a prime example of this. God used this prophet to remind Israel of not only the task at hand but also the fact that He was the author of certain times of drought and hard living in an effort to get their attention because of their rebellious hearts toward Him. In this same scripture He lets Israel know that He is also the author of their blessing when they choose to obey His Words. He doesn't say He will bless them when their work was done. He promised the blessing from that day forward...from the day they really listened with an open heart and began to grasp His awesome love for them. He immediately brought the blessing when the transformation took place. So it doesn't have to be peaches and cream in our lives for us to see God's blessing on us. You may not have stepped out and gone back to church yet or grabbed the opportunity to serve others like you should but I assure you it is NOT too late for you. God is saying if you will seize this moment and step out by simple faith, He will be there to bless you. He continues to say "I have chosen you".

A Prayer for You

I stumbled across this scripture the other day while studying and just stopped in my tracks after reading it. I'm not sure exactly why it caught my eye to such a degree but I have been reading it over and over. The more I read it, the more I'm encouraged. What powerful words for the Apostle Paul to have left us...

"We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith." 2 Thess. 1:11

So they are praying that God will reward us for wanting to do what is right and good...and praying that by his power he will make happen every good thing we have purposed in our hearts and he will bless our efforts when we've done things motivated by our faith. What a great thing to pray over folks! And it certainly makes you want to have the right attitude and motives. Remember this too...
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Changes on the Horizon

Well my friends, its time for another school year. I honestly don't know where summer went this year. It seems my days are slipping by in a blur and my children are growing up too fast. What is a girl to do? Accept the change and adjust is my current position.

Speaking of changes...The Lord has been so encouraging to us about hanging in there and waiting to see what He wants to do in our lives. Ministry has been extremely frustrating and would have been very easy to walk away from but God has continued to hold our hands. We haven't always felt Him but past experience has been a reference point for us to look upon and realize that yes, He is indeed holding on tight to us. I haven't always been the most enthusiastic person when it comes to change but weathering this past storm has been exhausting enough. I'm ready to see the horizon and embrace the changes that come with it. So while I wait I will sing a song of hope and know better days are ahead!
